Non-profit Samples

Maritime Gloucester, like many non-profits, has one major community event each year to attract community awareness and support. They have been constantly expanding their educational services, and this video was designed to update their base, and well as newly interested contributors.

I love working with Y kid's. Beth Francis, Director of Development, reported: "Amazing, spectacular, fantastic — not enough words to describe. " It was a really great night, and everyone had a fabulous time. Both videos were very well-received In fact a few people cried over the campership video — thank you for the excellent work! We raised $625,000 — $25K over our goal, and $95,000 more than last year

“Let the kids sell the reason” was the strategy behind this  fundraising very well-received video. In fact the Y raised $625,000 — $25K over our goal, and $95,000 more than last year

Established in 1793, Lowell's Boat Shop of Amesbury, Massachusetts is the oldest continuously operating boat shop in America; the birthplace of the legendary fishing dory. "Dedicated to Craft," was installed in the Shop's new museum exhibit space as an orientation video for visitors. The video is also on-line, and accompanies their grant applications.

Changing a Life One Kid at a Time is a development video that we produced for a YMCA Annual Gala. We all dug in and focused intensely on this project for a week, and shot the video on location, in Haverhill, MA, on the very day that Tropical Storm Sandy hit our New England shores. The ride home in my little Honda Fit was quite an adventure! This video had a very specific purpose: to encourage attendees at the YMCA annual Gala Auction to bid generously to sponsor week-long summer camp experience for a child whose family could not normally afford to send their kid to camp. The average fee for a week-long stay at camp is $ 150.00. Kim, who volunteers in the YMCA in the Development office, sent me this note soon after the event: :" It was amazing!!!!! Raised $147,000 in camperships, a new, astonishing number! Thank you, thank you for being so accommodating last week! The video looked great!" Beth Francis, Vice-President of Development, followed with this note: "Incredible! You saw the number… It was truly astonishing. I had 2 Executive Directors come up to me and say the video was great. That never happens it was AMAZING to get a compliment from them! … people really quieted down to watch it which was amazing given the level of noise throughout. I think it made a real difference! We are so happy to help these devoted institutions reach their goals.

Both the educators and the directors of Maritime Gloucester believe that exploration, inspiration and motivation are the secrets to connecting students to the ocean and the sciences. They are proud that their programs and educational approach to the working waterfront of Gloucester harbor are motivating today's young to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math as well as the traditional maritime trades. This video was used as a "roll-in" to a speech given by Tom Balf at the 2012 Gala Dinner to illustrate the valueof their approach to STEM education. This was the "approval copy" of the video prior to final polish and release. .

Maritime Gloucester, had just re-structured, re-branded, and re-established a stronger mission and focus on children’s educational experiences. We discovered a great young talent to deliver the voice-over and shot a video that both positioned and documented the exciting direction Maritime Gloucester was headed.

“A Legacy of Love” was produced to celebrate the Bicentennial of the Fragment Society of Boston. The video premiered on October 19, 2012, the 200th Anniversary of the founding meeting of the Society on October 19, 1812. A women’s charitable organization, operated solely by volunteers, the Fragment Society provides clothing and bedding to needy families, especially children, and has remained true to its mission, uninterrupted, for 200 years. This is their story.

Lucky This video was shown during the YMCA's 2009 Fundraising Gala, "A Night in Hollywood." The YMCA makes an important impact in the lives of kids across the North Shore. When kids have an opportunity to attend the Y, they learn values, teamwork and caring. As the video implies, kids are only young once, so it is important that all kids who need the Y have the opportunity to attend. The mission of the organization pledges to provide services to ALL regardless of their ability to pay. The annual gala raises funds to make sure the Y meets this mission.

This is nearly a commercial in style, but it was shot on an extremely low budget. Framing, lighting and performance contribute to deliver the message.  The kids are great. It’s one of my favorites.
